story of an unknowable lover - PO
For regular bear blog readers here this may be useful. If you see a dash and PO at the end of a title of a post you’ll know it’s a poetical rather than prose.
It might contain a bit of prose but for those who don’t go on poetics you’ll know to skip it!
It’s slightly prompted by Robert Birming’s recent post about feeling empty and full… although the poetical was written quite a few years back. And pushes itself out into the blogsphere with a great whoosh of gratitude for the wording and verbing which arises again and again…
MUSING ON STORY-TELLING
THIS is the exquisite and eternal play of imagining
as real as every sense reports,
as stories, goals, choosing, thoughts
yet imaginary as the moment just a second ago
through which those fictions time and space
habitually flow
Symbols, signs, predictions, (even self-development!),
process and what may appear as being ‘heaven sent’
counting costs, what’s lost
arises and disappears out of the blue
and these – quite naturally –
appear like figments branded ‘me’ and ‘you’
and are, yet aren’t
like ‘can’ and ‘can’t’ –
forever dancing on a non-existent fence
banging on, attempting to secure a post
and shout ‘At last! It all makes sense!’
To whom? To nothing but a ghost…
Sense-making is already happening!
What more than stroking, touching, smelling,
seeing, tasting, (yes, and thinking) can be sought?
All seeking ever ‘comes to’ is a big fat ‘nought’!
the only ‘thing’ we cannot catch is ‘THIS’,
whole, circling without end,
singing of no thing, unimaginable to knowing
yet Rumi’s lover which he called ‘The Friend’
Words in rhyme pen themselves
unauthored and yet being what thought claims to be by ‘Ms Lizzie Leigh’
finding nothing to do but worship, praise
making love to nothing but an utter Mystery…
