Love is Verbing

a productivity hack bites me on the bum but a bear blogger soothes it!

You would have thought the'epitaph' adventure https://loveisverbing.bearblog.dev/productivity-1/ refers, would have deterred me from trying out one of the productivity hacks I'd absorbed...

But 'no'!!!

The day after watching said video, I decided to test the 'break-it-down-and-time-it' strategy to my 'finishing the garden gate project'. Priority as it included making it accessible to both sides and also secure ahead of mother and her Houdini-dog visit.

I did as requested and divided up the elements.

Then estimated the time to do each bit (that was difficult, took some time (!) but was the new element so didn't want to miss it out).

The first element took 3 times as long to do and I began rushing...

In the process of doing, I found a dog-sized gap in the fence. Horror! New priority!

That dealt with, I headed indoors 2 hrs later than the estimated Big Task Total Time, feeling I'd failed. And a bit pissed off TBH.

Sometimes the task does NOT fit the time allocated. I found myself re-writing Derek's* phrase, 'Useful, not true.' to 'Not useful, only sometimes true.'!

The day ended with reading the bear discovery feed and discovering Zoe's post https://zoeloukia.bearblog.dev/this-is-the-process-of-it-all/ - thank you - in which she nonchalantly says, 'I have a process for most everything. The promise is that it will always take the longest allowable amount of time, and will reap the most leisurely joy possible.'

So yesterday I took heart and tried out her process. Waaaaaay more got done than the day before. And the day was a mighty lot more pleasurable.

*Derek Sivers - also the title of his fab book 'Useful, not true.'
