wrapping up on ai and addictive blogging analytics
First, humorous imaginary p.s. on my last post from cow on a.i. regurgitated by my elderly neighbor Jean - thanks.
'A.I.? You mean artificial insemination of course. Totally unnatural, but an awful lot easier.'
Thought that was quite pertinent on reflection! And it put things in a greater perspective. So it's time to put my ruminating on a.i. in its place (and to a lesser degree what I post here on bear).
Second, thanks to a bubbles blog which flagged how we're 'Salem-izing' a.i. I notice how much I and many others are demonizing or deifying a.i. and giving it human-like characteristics. Not to mention all the traction if posting about it! We're egged on of course, by the way a.i(s) are trained to 'APE' us, irresistibly and inevitably.
If we become more ape-like (actually I prefer more gorilla-like) in the process perhaps may be that's great - leading us to draw on our senses first while we offload more thinking to something 'other'? Or will a.i. become more ape-like?
Who really knows? Does it matter? While I'm speculating, blogging, experimenting, using, I'm abandoning what is actually 'mattering'!
And I would imagine it's more likely that we will become more artificial or less engaged as we have less direct experience to engage with.
Artificial intelligence(s) can't intuit from the synaesthetic (think listen with your eyes) chaos of the body. The overriding three senses - smell, taste and touch - are only artificially created by a.i.
As David Abram says, 'Only by cojoining different sensory modalities can our organism garner insights into the specific otherness that confronts us at any given moment.'
So where do I home a.i. since telling homing tales seems to be how Lizzie 'Lizzies'?
As far as possible I'm now homing it where it belongs and will be 'content' - a place where old (therefore dead) data goes.
I may visit sometimes in order to appreciate its insensate and largely human-centric and unemotional responses to specific human-related e.g. language or screen-focused questions.
The question 'Does this serve all life?' (see my last post) is not for it. It's for me. I do not wish it to grow more 'ape-like'. I want us to become more sensitive, whole-context aware including every apparent thing - including the so-called inanimate.
I do think a.i. has a role to play in this. Watching a YT of Estonia's experiment with young people, using a.i. to create a tool which develops critical thinking seems valuable. Valuable in how to use a.i. wisely!
So now my a.i. is virtually homed somewhere requiring a galactic journey where it can support - when necessary - my thinking, I can put the subject to rest.
p.s. This led to me thinking about how addictive analytics are, even on bear. The moment I mention analytics or bear blogging, suddenly my views rise (although not necessarily the up-votes!) This is not why I started this Love is Verbing blog... So expect fewer posts and on less popular subjects!
