Love is Verbing

kingdom or kindom?

One has a ruler, one doesn't.

One is in the common vernacular one is new.

One is about ownership, one is about shared home-land/sky-scape.

I'd like to introduce a new word for our time (long overdue): KINDOM.

Perhaps you'd like to consider using it? Or at least changing the spelling, or deliberately losing the 'g'! Could we 'word spell' something more enchanting? I'm 'musin' and choosin'. Heads up this is a musing of the slightly rambling kind ...

My imaginary dictionary entry might look like:

KINDOM (n.)
Any physical space where life exists, i.e. the earth and its skies irrespective and dismissive of humanly constructed borders or apparent ownership. This is a space which includes all, therefore no one or thing can be banished from it.

Roots: kin from Old English cynn 'family*', dom from Old English, 'statute, judgement'. Cognate with German -tum ('Jurisdiction', hence 'province, state, condition, quality.' [etymonline]

Therefore our kindom is the province (providence?) or domicile of kin.

In reality, this is the only 'place' I live. I can't find an end to it, pin it down or describe it in any meaningful way.

There is, perhaps, only one other illusory 'space' I can call 'my kinGdom', which Christ referred to in 'The kinGdom of heaven is within you'. Yes, within my mind, although even here 'fuzzy borders' mean my 'kin' play their part. It is only here that I entertain or not that someone or something is not 'kin' and where heaven can appear hellish. It is where I appear to create a world of 'my own'.

Some of my kin wish to live in very small homes they believe they have created or are trapped in, within the kindom. They can defend them with hatred, violence and webs of deceit. Usually these folk are most wounded and seem most deserving of restoration. However - and here's the rub and danger of 'fixing' - there is no 'fixing' an illusion. I will never be able to access theirs exactly. I'm daily reminded that seeing how kin naturally respond 'in the moment' in the kindom rather than my 'kinGdom' is enough.

And weirdly, when this happens, responses which serve the entire kindom tend to result.

*I think of almost everything and everyone as 'family' with all the extremes of behavior that includes!
